Netscape Configuration

Rule

The following explains how to configure your Netscape Navigator to recognize Layer 3 Audio MIME types.

Adding the audio/x-mpeg and audio/x-mpegurl MIME types

  1. Adding the audio/x-mpeg Type (See Figure1. below)
    1. Open the "Options->Preferences" Dialog.
    2. Press the "Create New Type..." Button.
    3. type "audio" (without the ") in the Mime Type field.
    4. type "x-mpeg" (without the ") in the Mime SubtypeType field.
    5. press "OK"
    6. add"mp3" in the file extensions field
    7. press the "Launch the application" radio button.
    8. press the "Browse..." Button to insert the path to winplay3.exe

    1. Open the "Options->Preferences" Dialog.
    2. Press the "Create New Type..." Button.
    3. type "audio" (without the ") in the Mime Type field.
    4. type "x-mpegurl" (without the ") in the Mime SubtypeType field.
    5. press "OK"
    6. add"m3u" in the file extensions field
    7. press the "Launch the application" radio button.
    8. press the "Browse..." Button to insert the path to winplay3.exe
    9. add a " /l" after the filename in the field.
  3. Press "OK"
