BandLAN®
Was an experimental site dedicated to providing musicians a low cost/high quality audio link to the Internet. We maintain a database of high quality audio clips and web pages that you can easily search.
NOTE: This site has been operational without change (dead) for several years now (7/97 - 2/02 ) and has proved itself with the small quantity of artists. It is now non functional and here only for reference.

How you use it... Simply install an MPEG Layer 3 (MP3) audio player on your computer and select the songs that you want to hear. Check out our Utilities section for more information. You can hear the songs immediately (called streaming) and also make your own playlist of up to 50 songs. This playlist can be saved for future use on our server for FREE! We provide two qualities of music, one at Full CD quality that requires a high speed connection to stream, or a lower quality version that can be streamed with a normal 28.8k modem. You can always listen to a high quality clip by downloading it before play using any modem.

Musicians wishing to submit material for our data base should contact us at BandLAN. We provide the service of encoding your music from a variety of formats (CD, DAT, Cassette) for inclusion in our database. Scanning of artwork and text for use in a single web page we provide is also included.

All of the music in our database is provided by musicians for advertising purpose only. It may not be sold or copied without the permission of the respective artist.

Mission: Provide users a simple interface to find music using the Internet and provide musicians an easy way to have their work accessible via the Internet. We realize that the MPEG layer 3 format will be THE format of choice for music transmission over the Internet and are working to enhance this.
